The United Republic of Tanzania is located East Africa and southern hemisphere and is adjacent to the Indian Ocean. With a population of 52 million, it covers an area of 945,000 square kilometers. Over 40 years ago, people in China and Tanzania built the Tanzania-Zambia Railway with their blood and sweat, broke the blockade imposed by the imperialist countries, developed the national economy of Tanzania and thus created the strong traditional friendship between our two countries. Since the beginning of the 21st century, the Tanzanian government has been vigorously promoting the economic reform and actively inviting foreign investment, which has contributed the average annual GDP growth rate of over 6% for 10 years in a row. Tanzania is now one of the most potential markets in Africa.
The rapid development of Tanzania is benefited from 5 of its own comparative advantages, namely, 1. long-term political and social stability; 2. relatively comprehensive legal system which pays close attention to the protection of properties of investors and reflects the government’s intention to attract business and investment and expand overseas market; 3. rich land, personnel, mineral and tourism resources, obvious location advantages as estuary of the Indian Ocean with fine ports and the role as a member of the East African Community and the Southern African Development Community with wide economic scope and large market capacity; 4. diversified industries, such as agriculture, construction, tourism, mineral, finance, telecommunication, commerce and logistics which are advancing side by side and enjoy a low degree of dependence on commodities and strong vigilance against risks.
As the China-Tanzania economic and trade relationship is getting ever stronger, an increasing number of Chinese companies and individuals are coming to Tanzania to make investment, seek cooperation or do business in this promising market. We welcome more Chinese companies to come to explore the Tanzanian market by practicing the Belt and Road Initiative and responding to the policy of China-Africa Production Capacity Cooperation. The Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Tanzania is going to provide services to Chinese companies and individuals who are coming to invest in Tanzania within its own reach and contribute to a new round of the bilateral economic and trade cooperation between China and Tanzania.
