China Henan International Cooperation Group Co., Ltd. (CHICO) is a large-scale parastatal comprehensive foreign economic and trade enterprise under the jurisdiction of Henan Province, PRC established in the year 1983. CHICO’s main business operation covers contracting international engineering projects, international human resource cooperation and exchange, international mining development, international trade business, automobile dealership, information industry, etc. As a first-class international contractor, CHICO has implemented more than 400 international engineering projects spanning over 20 countries in Asia and Africa, in various sectors like road & bridge, building construction, water supply and sanitation, electric power engineering. We are maintaining and operating regional offices in 13 countries across Africa from the East (Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Mozambique, Rwanda and Burundi) to the West (Guinea, Senegal, Namibia, Liberia, Ghana and Sierra Leone).
Since its establishment in 1983, CHICO has been adhering to the company’s principle of “Honesty and Faithfulness, Quality First, Mutual Benefit and Common Progress”. The Company was accredited with ISO9001 Quality System Certificate, ISO14001 Environmental Management System Certificate and OHSAS18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System Certificate since 2001 and has been listing in “Top 250 International Contractors” consecutively for years. The Company was also awarded the title of “Advanced Enterprise of Henan Province in Foreign Economic Cooperation”, “National Advanced Enterprise of Engineering Construction Quality Management”, “AAA Credit Level Enterprises of International Project Contracting and Human Resource Cooperation”, “New Century International Technology and Quality Gold Medal” etc. domestically and internationally.
In 2001, CHICO entered Tanzania. It has since then successfully contracted more than 70 major infrastructure projects (roads, water supply, buildings, weighbridge stations, airports, electricity supply, etc.) in Tanzania, accumulated contract amount exceeds USD 1.3 billion, including more than 35 road projects with total mileage of 1,340 kilometers. The company has during the years actively fulfilled its social responsibility by providing gratuitous assistance to local government and public. The projects have created tens of thousands of employment opportunities to local people and greatly boosted local economy, which has won CHICO a good reputation within Tanzania.
